David Ndetei is a renowned Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Nairobi and a pioneer in Kenyan psychiatry. He has been serving in this role since 1995 and is also the Founding Director of the Africa Mental Health Research and Training Foundation (AMHF), which focuses on mental health research and service provision in Kenya. Prof. Ndetei has significantly contributed to the field through numerous clinical and community-based studies on mental health and substance abuse. His work also encompasses areas like community mental health, integration of mental health in chronic disease treatment, and school mental health programs, including suicide prevention.
